Louisville, KY's Young Widows have progressed from their noisy hardcore roots into something truly their own - a sinister, hypnotic rock band with a mind-blowing live show and a stunning attention to detail. With their bone-rattling rhythms and their sprawling wall of matching custom-designed amps, Young Widows kill the fashionably bored and resurrect the evil dead.
Acoustic strums, beautiful vocal harmonies, pianos, keyboards, and swelling ambient noise- not the kind of music one might assume would come from a band made up of veteran punk musicians, on a veteran punk record label. This is just the next step in the journey of Northern Virginia's Pygmy Lush, one that has been marked by redefinition and rebirth.
Xerxes took shape in a few different high schools within the city of Louisville, KY in early 2009. Its shape was cubical in nature and fit very easily in its place. Since then its place has been lost and its shape has been folded and molded and grown a couple different times in different cities and countries and stages and floors and will continue to do so. Equal parts anxiety dread sex and total ecstasy. Young, loud, and articulate in a frantic way that makes its parents worry. Searching for connection in a world that is disconnected.
