The Switzerland County Visitors Center, located at 128 West Main Street in downtown Vevay, IN, will display both Holiday Gingerbread House Contest entries and submissions in Vevay Main Street’s “Deck the District Wreath Decorating Contest” during the Dec. 7 “First Friday." The event begins at 6:00pm and is free and open to the public.

Sponsored by Switzerland County Tourism, the “Holiday Gingerbread House Contest” includes both adult and youth categories. Houses may depict any architectural structure either real or imaginary, and must be completely edible except for the base. Entries are judged on overall appearance, originality, creativity, difficulty, and precision. Winners will be announced during the Dec. 7 First Friday. Prizes will be awarded.

The “Deck the District Wreath Decorating Contest” is sponsored by Vevay Main Street, and includes entries by individuals, businesses, and groups in Switzerland County. Entries are judged on originality and creativity, workmanship, and the use of materials.

A “People’s Choice Award” will be given to the wreath that receives the most votes from 6-8pm during First Friday. Additional winners will be announced after 8pm.

Gingerbread houses will be on display at the Visitors Center through Dec. 28. Christmas wreaths will be displayed through Dec. 30.
