Planes will take to the skies over the Bill Fluke Airfield in E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park for the Wings for Kids event on June 7 and 8 presented by the IPA Foundation. The event will benefit Kosair Children's Hospital through the Children’s Hospital Foundation.
The 16th annual event is hosted by the River City Radio Controllers and features radio controlled airplane flying exhibitions, including aerobatic airplanes, Warbirds from World War I and World War II, turbine-powered jet aircraft and scale vintage planes. This event also features fun activities for the whole family, including a candy drop, inflatables and flight simulators.
Times are Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Bill Fluke Airfield at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer Park. Enter off Hurstbourne Parkway near Westport Road. Cost is $3 per person or $10 per car
All proceeds from Wings for Kids will benefit the Kosair Children’s Hospital “Just for Kids” Transport Team. The transport team uses specialized ambulances, a helicopter or an airplane to bring nearly 1,900 children a year to the specialized care available at Kosair Children’s Hospital.
