Whitehall's is pleased to announce that its 10th annual Peony Festival will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2013. As is tradition, the public is invited to tour Whitehall's gardens from sunup to sundown throughout the day and enjoy the impressive collection of over 50 peony varieties.
A selection of herbaceous peonies will also be offered for sale for $25 per 1 gallon size. The peony sale will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m, or while supplies last. Please note that early access to the sale area will not be permitted.
There is no admission charge to view the gardens or attend sale.
Proceeds from peony sales benefit Whitehall House & Gardens, a historic house and horticultural treasure owned and operated by the not-for-profit Historic Homes Foundation. Originally built in the mid-1850s as an Italianate farmhouse, the home was transformed in the early 1900s into the iconic Greek Revival-style mansion we know today as Whitehall. At just under ten acres, the grounds feature multiple unique gardens and specimen trees, making Whitehall truly a place where "history grows."
