The Switzerland County Visitors Center will feature pumpkin bowling for youths and adults during the November 1 “Pumpkins, Gourds & Squash” Vevay Main Street First Friday. The event will take place from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on Liberty Street beside the courthouse. It is free and open to the public.
In case of inclement weather the event will be held inside the Visitors Center located at 128 West Main Street in Vevay.
Visitors are invited to bring a camera as a friendly Headless Horseman will also roam the streets of Vevay during the November First Friday event. The horseman will stop on Liberty Street beside the courthouse to pose for spectator photos. Liberty Street will be closed between Main Street and West Pike Street from 5:00-9:00 p.m.
Old family photographs from a former Vevay photography studio--Walton’s Photography--will be on display at the Switzerland County Visitors Center throughout November. The “Family Values in Switzerland County” exhibit opening will be November 1 from 6-9 p.m. during the Vevay Main Street First Friday.
The photographs to be displayed were selected from a box of family photos in the possession of Roger Garvey. The images were enlarged and retouched for the June 2006 opening exhibit of the Click Gallery when it was located on Ferry Street. The exhibit will remain on display throughout November. The Visitors Center is open Mon.-Sat. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. and Sun. noon-4 p.m.
Vevay Main Street First Friday is held monthly rain or shine and features late night shopping, dining, store specials, live entertainment and free carriage rides around downtown Vevay.
