Locals and visitors need not be alarmed as horses’ hooves of a friendly Headless Horseman and his faithful sidekick clatter throughout the streets of downtown Vevay, IN. For the town’s unique guests are roaming the area in celebration of the Sat., Oct. 6 Sleepy Hollow event.
Held from 9am-4pm around the courthouse square off of Main Street, the town of Vevay kicks-off the fall season with apple and pumpkin pie baking contests, arts and craft vendors, an antique tractor show, pet parade, and live entertainment from noon until 3:00pm. The Farmer’s Market will also be open during the Sleepy Hollow event.
“Drop by and see Vevay all decked out for fall,” said Kendal Miller, freelance public relations. “Not only are the towns displays beautiful but the local businesses are decorated as well. Enjoy all the Sleepy Hollow events and then stop in the shops and restaurants to see what they have to offer.”
Arts and crafts vendors and businesses have seasonable merchandise available for holiday decorating, and unique gift items to get an early start on those long Christmas gift lists.
Budding bakers can break out those top-secret recipes and try to their hand at creating the best apple or pumpkin pie in hopes of outshining their neighbors’ entry and gaining the admiration of the contest judges. Entries need to be at the Switzerland County Visitors Center, located at 128 West Main Street in Vevay, by 11am on Sat., Oct. 6. Judging takes place at noon.
