As You Raise Your Heart Rate, Raise Funds For A Good Cause – Suggested $10 Donation
Urban Active is hosting The First Annual Byrd Perry Cardiothon – 100 Minutes Of Heart-Pumping Cardio on Sat. Sept 3rd to raise money for The American Heart Association. This event is in honor of Urban Active Group X instructor, Allison Perry’s father, who she lost suddenly and unexpectedly due to a massive heart attack.
Heart disease is the #1 killer of both men and women in the US. The numbers continue to grow as inpatient hospitalizations for cardiovascular-related diagnoses in 2004 totaled over $2,106,977,000.
The keys to becoming heart healthy as a preventative include exercising for at least 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. In fact, studies say that for every hour of walking, you may increase your life expectancy by two hours. Walking, swimming, cycling, jogging, skiing, aerobic dancing or any of dozens of other activities can help your heart. These activities cause you to feel warm, perspire and breathe heavily without being out of breath and without feeling any burning sensation in your muscles.
Urban Active Taylorsville Road will be holding a 100 minute Zumba class and a RetroRobics class at 10:00am. It is located at 4620 Taylorsville Road, Louisville, KY 40220. Phone: (502) 671-8233
Zumba’s pumping class combines red hot music with addictive dance moves! It also features interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined to tone and sculpt the body while burning fat, at about 500-800 calories per hour!
Urban Active is suggesting a $10 donation from members at the front desk. Non-members can attend the class for $10. All proceeds will go to The American Heart Association.
