Description: Michael Tracy and Renato Vasconcellos bring their vibrant Brazilian sound to the Comedy Caravan on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets to this rare collaboration are underwritten by The Louisville Jazz Society and Comedy Caravan and the cost to the general public is only $5.00, so take advantage of this special offer.
Most people think of Antonio Carlos Jobim and The Girl From Ipanema, Bossa Nova, Carnival and Samba when the music of Brazil is mentioned. Those are the most obvious but there is so, so much more. Join the Tracy/Vasconcellos Brazilian Ensemble for an afternoon of music by Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Moacyr Santos, Pixinguinha, Joao Bosco, Dominguinhos and much more. Hear the many varied rhythms – Choro, Partido Alto, Maracatu, Forró, Afoxe, Frevo and Baião in addition to Bossa Nova and Samba.
The Ensemble members are:
Mike Tracy – saxophones
Renato Vasconcellos – keyboard
Pat Lentz – guitar
Pablo Souza – bass
Lourenço Vasconcellos – drums and percussion
Bruno “gafanhoto” Souza – drums and percussion
Guaranteed to leave with a smile on your face and a different bounce in your step.
