Tai Chi originated in ancient China as a martial art, but is also practiced as a form of moving meditation. Chi is the Chinese word for life force (similar to the yogic term prana), and the practice of tai chi helps aid in the flow of that vital life force. This class focuses on learning to use your body as an instrument of awareness, developing your personal energy, and beginning to balance and direct your energy. Classes are generally structured with warm ups, balance exercises, specific chi kung, mini forms, as well as a cool down and short meditation at closing. This class is appropriate for all fitness levels and body types.
