2014-2015 Mainstage Series
Opening the season is a musical based on a traditional tale, Petite Rouge, a Cajun Red Riding Hood. If you love the classics, then you will adore this toe-tapping musical fairy tale as hot as the Louisiana swamps. A red-hooded duckling named Petite Rouge and her sidekick Cat lead the Big Bad Gator on a wild "duck" chase through New Orleans. Take a trip to the bayou in this saucy, Creole romp; heapin’ with a side of low country jazz, blues, and zydeco music! Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Returning for a 21th engagement, StageOne continues the holiday tradition with The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.Woven in and out as a season staple since 1986, the Herdmans once again grace the stage for a Christmas event unlike any other. Dubbed “the worst kids in the whole history of the world,” they lie, steal and cheat; and the whole town has gathered to see them ruin everything! Will the pageant be a disaster as everyone is expecting, or will the spirit of the season change the hearts and minds of the Herdman family? Recommended for ages 8 and up.

WORLD PREMIERE! Keeping strong roots in new play development, StageOne presents And In This Corner…Cassius Clay written by playwright, Idris Goodwin. There have been African American sports heroes whose celebrity helped shine light on the struggles of the communities from which they emerged. But there was no one more colorful, dynamic and larger than life than the one and only, the true greatest of all time, Muhammad Ali. Before he shook up the world he was just Cassius Clay, Jr. from Louisville, Kentucky; and the Louisville where he grew up in the 1950s was not like Louisville today…Recommended for ages 8 and up.

Rounding out the season is the favorite, Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse. Lilly is the queen, she likes everything! This mouse is sure the world revolves around her, definitely NOT around her germy baby brother. She wants to be an opera diva, or was it a SCUBA diver, or a teacher? She loves school, she loves her boots; she is a movie star. But when everyone is too busy to admire her new purple plastic purse, Lilly learns some hard lessons in patience, and the downside of being selfish. Join Lilly and her friends, Wilson and Chester, as they learn about fear, love, CHEESE, and the little joys in life. Recommended for ages 4 and up.
