Hayswood Theatre will present the musical classic South Pacific which will open on July 13 and run weekends through July 29. Set on an island in the South Pacific during World War II, Rodgers’ and Hammerstein's Tony award winning musical is based on the Pulitzer-Prize-winning novel by James A. Michener, Tales of the South Pacific. The story involves two parallel love stories and focuses on issues of war and prejudice. Nellie Forbush, a spunky young nurse from Arkansas, falls in love with a mature French widower who has two Tonkinese children, while Lt. Joe Cable finds that he has fallen in love with a young native girl.
