We will be enrolling (primarily) African-American women over the age of 18 for our 'Sisters Who Care' program at this event. We will meet in the cafeteria at the Parkland Family Scholar House (1309 Catalpa Street).
'Sisters Who Care' members will be offered the opportunity to hone skills and gain knowledge related to living happier, healthier lives alongside their loved ones. We will discuss how to express emotions in healthy ways, how to set expectations and follow through with consequences in our relationships, how to say 'No' to people when we need to, how to avoid contracting HIV and similar diseases, how to know when someone may need help with an addiction, and what "drink responsibly" really means.
Besides the support, learning, and sharing that will take place, members will also receive the chance to earn a $50 Wal-Mart gift card and 4 certificates of completion. 'Sisters Who Care' also offers light meals, a little money to help with childcare, free TARC tickets, and free case management for any topic you would like to explore and receive help with outside of class time.
It would be very helpful if anyone who is interested could call us at 502-583-6820 to let us know that they are coming. However, anyone is welcome to show up as they are able, as long as they do so ON TIME (10:00 a.m.).
Feel free to contact us with any questions you may have. Please pass the word along to your loved ones!
