The American Printing House for the Blind was established in 1858. By 1860, its new press was set up in the basement of the Kentucky School for the Blind. However, the new company did not produce its first book until 1866. Why not? The Civil War. Come listen to historian and APH Museum director Mike Hudson explain what happened to the American Printing House for the Blind, the Kentucky School for the Blind, and Louisville in the tumultuous four-year period when, in Kentucky, brother fought against brother. Free to the public, but registration is required. Call 899-2213 to register. For adults and older teens.
