Shamrock’s Annual Holiday Shoppe Scheduled for December 7 & 8 at American Legion Highland Post
This year’s special guest is Andre the Gentle Giant
Louisville, KY (November 12, 2013)—If you’re looking for a holiday bargain, want to talk to an animal communicator, adopt a dog or cat for the holidays or get your child’s or pet’s picture taken with the Grinch, look no further than Puss & Boots Old Time Holiday Shoppe. The annual event, benefitting The Shamrock Pet Foundation, is scheduled for Saturday, December 7 and Sunday, December 8 at the American Legion Highlands Post, 2919 Bardstown Road.
“People always enjoy this event because it has so much to offer,” said Shamrock’s Founder, Sharon Mayes, “but this year is bigger and better than ever before. There are themed gift baskets, artwork, jewelry, sports memorabilia, crafts and holiday decorations. There are also hundreds of animal-related gifts such as gourmet dog treats, pet beds and homemade catnip toys.”
This year the Holiday Shoppe will have a very special guest, Andre the Gentle Giant. Andre, a black Great Dane, was rescued by Shamrock in October. He was severely malnourished, weighing only 73 pounds. He is steadily recovering, gaining strength, and expects to be well enough to attend the event and thank everyone who has supported him through Shamrock.
Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. In addition to gifts, a wide variety of food is available to eat onsite or carry out. Offerings include hearty soups, homemade breads, sandwiches, snacks and enough baked goods to make a sugar addict go weak in the knees.
In addition to being able to purchase holiday gifts, the event will also feature a silent auction with everything from signed basketballs by Rick Pitino and Tom Crean to gift packages, restaurant certificates and baskets for the dog and cat.
All the money raised from the event goes directly to the care of animals.
Although Shamrock’s main mission is spay and neuter, they do have foster families in their volunteer community. This year there’s a pet angel tree so you can buy a holiday gift for a dog or cat currently in Shamrock’s care.
In addition to entertainment and photos with “The Grinch,” Fredricka Chambers, an animal communicator, will give readings. If you want to have a session of her, you should bring a photo of your pet. You can also get your Tarot cards read and listen to the vocal stylings of Annie Burks. There’s will be an opportunity to adopt pets at the Holiday Shoppe. According to Mayes, it’s one of the organization’s largest adoption weekends.
