Author and former Kentucky Poet Laureate Richard Taylor will talk about the life of John James Audubon, the man who inspired Rare Bird: Sonnets on the Life of John James Audubon. Audubon (1785-1851) was an American artist and ornithologist who drew birds from observation in nature. Mr. Taylor will share sonnets from the book to bring to life this extraordinary story.
Richard Taylor was raised in Louisville. In addition to being a former poet laureate, he is the Kenan Visiting Writer at Transylvania University. He has published several books including eight collections of poetry, two novels, and several books on Kentucky history.
