Raising Ms. President
Presented by PARKERLANE & LFS
Join us, along with our partners, the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana and Louisville Girls Leadership, for the Kentucky Premiere of Raising Ms. President, a documentary directed by Kiley Lane Parker and produced by George Parker Jr.
This is going to be an incredible evening and perfect date night for mothers & fathers (or grandparents) to bring their daughters (and sons). Barbara Sexton-Smith, president of the Fund for the Arts, will be the evening's Master of Ceremonies. She will be joined on stage by members of the Louisville Girls Leadership and the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana. Following the movie, director Kiley Lane Parker will moderate a Panel of Powerhouse Women ready to encourage and inspire the audience to reach for the stars.
The event is from 7:00pm to 9:00pm with doors opening at 6:00pm and we encourage everyone to take some time to explore the booths set up in the lobby to learn and discover more about the incredible work our partners at the Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana and Louisville Girls Leadership offers to girls in our community. A portion of the evenings proceeds will be benefiting each organization.
Raising Ms. Presidentis about raising the next generation of female political leaders. Studies show that when more women are at the political decision making table, their presence does make a difference, the problem is, women just don’t want to run. This documentary explores some of the reasons women don’t run for office and uncovers where political ambition begins. If we don’t have more young women envisioning themselves at the top, then asking them to run for office when they are older won’t matter. We must change the political landscape across the board, for the betterment of all people and our country.
