The next Republic Bank First Friday Trolley Hop will be held on Friday, August 1 from 5:00pm to 11:00pm in downtown Louisville. Trolley hoppers can hop on a free trolley to various art galleries, restaurants, and shops along the Main and Market Street corridors, as well as the recently revitalized South Fourth Street District. The trolley route runs along 4th Street from Main Street to Broadway, and riders can transfer between routes at 4th and Main Streets. Free parking is available on the street after 6:00pm, or at Slugger Field, located at Main Street and Jackson.
The featured event for the hop will be film screenings at Dreamland (810 E. Market St., behind Decca) from 5pm to 8pm, with a Kentucky-themed soundtrack curated by Nathan Salsburg of the Alan Lomax Archives. The films are rare, amateur films about downtown Louisville, the Kentucky Derby, Bowman Field, Cherokee and Iroquois Parks, Indianapolis, and more, that Filson archivists have worked to bring back to life. Filson staff members will be on hand to provide historical information about the films. Refreshments will be available and the event is free and open to the public. For more information visit www.filsonhistorical.org or www.dreamlandislouisville.org.
In addition, Local Speed, located at 822 East Market Street, will host the opening of Discovering the Earth: African Pottery at 5pm. The event will include a pop-up bar by RYE, live music, and giveaways. For more information, visit speedmuseum.org.
