The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, located along downtown’s historic “Whiskey Row,” is now offering a Speakeasy Tour celebrating the last days of the Prohibition era in Louisville. The new tour featured at the visitor’s center, an official stop on the world famous Kentucky Bourbon Trail®, transports guests back in time to the early 1930’s when the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcohol was illegal.
Upon guessing the secret entry password correctly, guests will gain access to the Speakeasy through a faux safe door in the wall, an area of the facility not currently included on the standard Evan Williams Bourbon Experience tour. While inside, tour guests will take a seat at a large, cherry, state-of-the-art bar and learn about the city’s rich Bourbon heritage and tradition from accomplished local historian and author, Rick Bell. Speakeasy Tour guests of legal drinking age will also partake in a variety of educational Bourbon tastings, including Evan Williams Bottled-In-Bond, Larceny, and Evan Williams 23-Year-Old Bourbon, all of which are available for purchase in the retail shop on the second floor of the visitor’s center. The 30-minute Speakeasy Tour is available Friday – Sunday only and costs $12/person.
Extended hours and a discounted Speakeasy Tour price of $9/person will be available during the upcoming Downtown Louisville First Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, August 1 from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Advanced reservations are not required, but can be made by calling (502) 272-2611.

The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience celebrates the legacy of Evan Williams, Kentucky's first commercial distiller, through an immersive visitor’s center experience which brings to life the history and tradition of Kentucky's native spirit. Now the 8th stop on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail, the facility offers guests a historical glimpse back in time to see Evan Williams’ original distillery through high definition video recreations of the Louisville wharf and Main Street in the late 18th Century, plus recreations of Whiskey Row building facades along Main Street from the 1890’s through the present. Meanwhile, visitors learn the essential differences between distilling during Evan Williams’ era and Heaven Hill’s modern Bernheim Distillery opera
