Step Forward for Mental Health and join us for the only annual walk in Louisville focused on mental health, awareness, support and recovery. NAMI Louisville is the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, offering information, guidance, free programs and support to people affected by mental illness.
Mental illness affects all walks of life, with one in four adults experiencing mental illness in a given year.
The NAMI Louisville Step Forward for Mental Health Walk is a fun, family-friendly event with music, refreshments, face painting and chair massages. Participants will receive t-shirts and there will be door prizes.
Participants are invited to Walk in My Shoes, with personalized lanyards available the day of the walk. Participants are also invited to set aside their typical walking shoes and wear shoes that best represent them -- business, casual, athletic or dress. All walks of life will be represented, just as mental illness affects all walks of life.
A Louisville Metro Police officer and member of the Crisis Intervention Team will receive the CIT Award for dedication to serving our community and those in crisis who are affected by mental illness.
Registration and pre-walk festivities begin at 9 a.m. The CIT Award will be presented at 10 a.m. The 2-mile walk begins at 10:30 a.m.
