Peace Gardens with the Food Literacy Project
12:00 – 4:00 PM; for children ages 8-12, and children ages 5-7 with parents.
Families will explore gardening as a way to learn about respect for diverse cultures and nutrition. Presenters will introduce the connections between environmental issues and social conflict.
Peace Garden Flowers
12:00 – 4:00 PM; for children ages 8-12, and children ages 5-7 with parents.
Children will decorate a flower will peace images/words and will “plant” their flower in one of our gardens.
Hopes and Dreams Mosaic
12:00 – 4:00 PM; for children ages 8-12, and children ages 5-7 with parents.
Families will explore the hopes and dreams of children from around the world by searching for specific tiles and will create a mosaic tile representing their dreams for a peaceful Earth.
Peace Resolution
12:00 – 4:00 PM; for children ages 10-14
Individuals will reflect on what peace means to them and write a “resolution” for fostering peace in their communities.
Storytelling with the Louisville Free Public Library
2:00-4:00 PM (Oral Storytelling at 2:00, 2:30, 3:00, 3:30)
Storytelling: for children ages 5-8; Independent Reading: for children ages 8-12
A staff member from the Louisville Free Public Library will provide books for all ages on peace, gardening, Muhammad Ali, etc. Families will be able to register for a library card on site.
