After a 23-year battle, Alzheimer’s finally took the life of Louisville resident Trudy Mudd last year, but it has not taken the drive from her daughters to help find a cure for the disease. They will hold their 9th annual “Great Steamboat Race Party” fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Association on Wednesday, May 1, from 5 to 11 p.m. at Kingfish Restaurant on the riverfront in Jeffersonville.

The public is invited to watch the annual steamboat race from the riverside deck of Kingfish, and proceeds will help fund research and programs to support those facing Alzheimer’s.

Since 2005, the Mudd Sisters (Leslie Mudd, Ann Mudd, Debbie Tuggle and Janet Sweet)) have raised more than $100,000 for the Greater Kentucky and Southern Indiana Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association through this event.

Party-goers will enjoy a riverfront view of the Great Steamboat Race, heavy hors d’oeuvres, a cash bar, and a performance by Thumper and the Plaid Rabbits. DJ Glenn Smith will provide dance music. The party is a 21 and over event; guests must bring ID. Cost is a donation of $35 per person in advance, $30 prepaid for groups of five or more, or $40 at the door.
