The University of Louisville Hite Art Institute in conjunction with the 2011 Louisville Photo Biennial is pleased to announce an exhibition of photographic work by UofL Professor Mitch Eckert at the Cressman Center for Visual Arts. The Photo Biennial represents a cooperative effort among local museums, galleries, universities and other public venues to give viewers the opportunity to learn about and to appreciate photography, spanning its history to the present, and from the local to the global. The Exhibit will open with a Reception from 6-9p on September 30.
Dialogue/Object surveys 15 years of Mitch Eckert’s photographic work exploring the theme of Still Life. Eckert has used film and digital negatives, traditional and toy cameras, flatbed scanners and iPhones at various moments in his career, all as means of dialoguing with objects, some of which he has assembled and arranged, others of which he has found and captured. Eckert's color prints and alternative process photographs play upon the tradition of Still Life and the beauty of the everyday object.
