Louisville's MERCY ACADEMY blends folk and Americana with elements of hard rock and experimental leanings. Led by singer/songwriter Christofer Lincoln, lyrics focus on poetic themes and sometimes dark in nature, giving way to stark yet epic and uplifting song structures. The band is rounded out by accomplished guitarist Phil Najjar, bassist John Sloan, and powerhouse drummer Jeremy Smith. Mercy Academy released their first record Tales in 2011, and now celebrates the release of Hearing, a much more conceptual and heavier album on Little Heart Records. Joining the bill are all-girl raunch-rockers, Catfight! plus Shadwick Wilde's punk-influenced Americana brainchild Quiet Hollers, who recently held their own cd release with Mercy Academy sharing opening honors.
