LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Center for Interfaith Relations (CIR) in partnership with the Dharmata Foundation and Mangala Shri Bhuti will host a meditation retreat with renowned meditation teachers Anam Thubten and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel October 4-6 at the Brown Hotel (335 West Broadway, Louisville, Ky., 40202). The meditation retreat is for people of all faith traditions and is suited to both experienced and novice meditators.
On Friday, October 4, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Anam Thubten and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel will offer a guided public meditation and spiritual discourse about the benefits of meditative/contemplative practices and share insights on their personal and spiritual journeys.
Then, on Saturday, October 5, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, October 6, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Thubten and Namgyel will present a more focused/interactive meditation experience that will include talks, demonstrations and lively discussions about different facets of meditation and meditative/contemplative practice.
The event is presented in keeping with the “Sacred Silence: Pathway to Compassion” theme which is the focus of CIR’s 2013 Festival of Faiths.
Cost to attend the Meditation Retreat with Anam Thubten and Elizabeth Mattis Namgyel is $25 for the October 4 public talk ($20 for tickets purchased before September 14) and $200 for the October 5-6 meditation practice ($175 for tickets purchased before September 14).
