Marty Stuart was 13 when his precocious mandolin playing landed him a job in Lester Flatt's bluegrass band. His career from there is legendary, first playing with Vassar Clements and Doc Watson before beginning a six-year stint with Johnny Cash and releasing many smash "hillbilly rock" hits of the '90s.
This four time GRAMMY-winner, Grand Ole Opry star and country music memorabilia preservationist is an all around renaissance man. Marty Stuart has shown a showman's zest and a missionary's zeal for bringing the importance of the music and its themes home to long-time fans and newcomers alike. Musicologist Peter North cites, "Marty Stuart seems wrapped in his destiny at this point in time, not only as country music's most notable ambassador/caretaker, but as its main archetypical crusader. He has without question evolved into one of the most important roots musicians and visionaries in America."
His live on stage, alive on records presence is also seen regularly by TV viewers these days, on RFD-TV's "The Marty Stuart Show." This #1 show adds a new chapter to the tradition of simple, electrifying country TV with varied live sounds, and top level guests. Each exciting episode features Mr. Stuart, his band His Fabulous Superlatives and his Country Queen wife, Ms. Connie Smith, who together have made the show a celebrated success. The Marty Stuart Show regularly features guest appearances from some of country music's most revered superstars.
