Earth Day is intended to inspire awareness and appreciation for the Earth's natural environment. The first Earth Day in 1970 activated millions of Americans from all walks of life and is widely credited with launching the modern environmental movement. In 2012, Earth Day falls on April 22 and will be observed by events in 192 countries (visit www.earthday.org for more information). Learn more about Earth Day and how others are getting involved.
