The Louisville AIDS Walk will be held Sunday, September 21 on the Belvedere, 485 W. Main Street. Each year, hundreds of Kentucky and Southern Indiana residents come together to renew commitment to the fight for a cure and in support of those affected by HIV/AIDS in our community. Dawne Gee will be returning as this year’s emcee.
This year’s event will kick off at 12:00 p.m. on September 21 at The Belvedere and will also include a PetZone, KidZone, entertainment, and a 3 mile course for walkers on an easy, level grade.
As an added bonus this year, two special guests and honorary co-chairs will join the walk. Mondo Guerra, winner of Project Runway All-Stars Season 1 and current mentor on Under the Gunn, and Maria Davis, music industry insider and HIV advocate, will both be on site for a meet and greet and to introduce I Design, a national HIV education campaign that encourages HIV positive individuals to have open and honest conversations with their healthcare teams. I Design features a number of tools that help patients vocalize how they are doing on their treatment plans, including several tools that are available for download on www.ProjectIDesign.com. Louisville will be the second stop for the campaign in 2014.
Individuals and teams are encouraged to register for the Walk in advance.
