This is a fun way to get a taste of sailing. There are two 2-hour youth clinics -- 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. -- for old boys and girls aged 9 to 17 years old. The two clinics are identical. Pick the one that suits your schedule. There is a 3-hour clinic (1 p.m. to 4 p.m.) for adults aged from 18 years old to infinity.

In the youth clinic, wannabe sailors spend an hour learning about boats, how the wind makes them go, and how to tie some nautical knots. Then everyone goes sailing for an hour aboard boats sized 25 feet and up belonging to members of the Derby City Yacht Club (DCYC).

In the adult clinic, older wannabe sailors spend two hours covering parts of a boat, nautical terminology, how the wind moves a boat, and leaning how to tie nautical knots. They also get to go sailing for an hour aboard the same DCYC boats.
