Imagine Michael Franti crashing the Judds Backyard Barbeque...now you have an idea of what KRI AND HETTIE sound like. (Actually, what they sound like is "tree and betty", just to avoid any pronunciation confusion!) kRi is a word alchemist who layers her voice over the acoustic guitar grooves and soulful vocals of hettie. Their music and performance inspires and motivates both young and old, all while maintaining that down to earth, front porch vegan hot dog in your mouth feeling. Big fans of popular music, the duo blends poetry and music to make the message just as important as the beat and melody. kRi & hettie produced and released their debut album, Sirens Chasin' the Sun, with the financial support of their community and a grant from the Kentucky Foundation for Women. “Guest house" became their first single to hit radio nationwide when the girls partnered with Louisville’s Downtown Recording and MCB Records in November of 2010. "Silver Lining" soon followed and was quick to catch air play all over the country. You Matter to Me is their brand new release, a six-song EP full of hope that focuses on matters of the heart. Each song is powerful and empowering, reminding the listener that they can be a source of inspiration and healing for themselves, each other, and the world.
Being in Service to the World is a huge part of who kRi and hettie are. They were commissioned by the Austin Texas based organization, Cenpatico, to create the theme song “Change it Up” for the organization’s Peaceful Warrior Yoga Project, and is "a song about reclaiming your life.” kRi and hettie split their time evenly between their home in Louisville, KY, and touring in their van "Joy”.
