The 36th Annual KENTUCKY MUSIC WEEKEND will be held July 29, 30 and 31 at the beautiful Iroquois Amphitheater and the tree-lined walkway just outside the Amphitheater in Louisville, Kentucky.
Voted into law in 2000 as Kentucky’s Premier Folk Festival, Kentucky Music Weekend has been entertaining and educating generations with traditional and contemporary folk music, celebrating the rich musical heritage of our state.
The event has been expanded to include Arts & Crafts at Iroquois (a juried craft fair), daytime stages Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and an old-time street dance! Note: Stage 3 will be devoted to storytelling. Dulcimer classes (Appalachian and Hammer) will be taught Saturday morning 9:45-11:15 in the air conditioned area of amphitheater.
Some of the 35 acts this year include Bill Staines, Mitch Barrett, Storefront Congregation, Small Potatoes, Whistlin’ Rufus and Peter Madcat Ruth. Evening concerts both Friday and Saturday nights offer a diverse combination of folk music styles from bluegrass to blues to singer-songwriter originals. Daytime event highlights include a songwriter workshop, a guitar styles workshop, open stage opportunities, and more! Entertainment starts at 10 am and goes to 4:30 or 4:45 pm. Evening concerts Friday and Saturday run from 7 to 11 pm ($10 suggested donation for evening concerts—other performances FREE). Sunday, entertainment starts at noon and goes to 5 pm.
Food concessions also available.
