Kentucky Homefront Radio Show records the best of local and regional acoustic performers at the Clifton Center just off Frankfort Avenue. Shows are broadcast locally on WFPK, 91.9 FM radio at a later date. Two hour-long shows are taped before a live audience in a casual auditorium.
The first broadcast features Jazz with local favorite Pete Peterson bringing in a combo consisting of the finest players in town and closes with the great jazz guitarist Craig Wagner and vocalist Carly Johnson rendering a set of jazz standards that is sure to have you raving about the duo’s virtuosity. Col. Bob Thompson also slides in during the first broadcast with another of his entertaining front porch anecdotes.
The second broadcast hour focuses on the Blues with Blue Mother Tupelo coming in from Nashville to open the show and, in a real coup, we’ll be closing with the incredible R&B guitarist, Tommy Stillwell, a founding member, along with Larry Grisham, of the Beat Daddys and late of the Amazing Soul Crackers. Stillwell brings along a crack R&B band and is certain to burn the front porch to the ground. Clayton Dermon shines in the “spotlight” with music of the great Merle Travis.
