The April Kentucky Homefront showcases “Music that Changed the World.” The “music world,” if not the whole world, was powerfully impacted by American music from the 1960’s many powerful voices. Homefront pays homage to the great music from the 60’s with a spotlight on Bob Dylan, the Beatles, and the Grateful Dead.
John Gage opens with a tribute to Bob Dylan and will let the music speak for itself. Then the “Johnny Doughnut Experience” brings the music of the Beatles to the front porch. They have performed for 10 years at Abby Road on the River and, once you hear them, you’ll know why.
The second hour opens with MVP which is Marty, Vicky, and Phil, all good friends and earnest supporters of Kentucky Homefront. Their excellent musicianship is topped only by their superb vocals and they also specialize in music from the 60’s. Following MVP, The Pranksters shine with covers from the same era. They are the quintessential jam band in Louisville and command a strong following. They’ve played on Sunday nights for over 23 years with music that keeps people up and dancing with fond memories of the legacy of American music.
