Midwest kid-rocker, Jim Cosgrove has delighted audiences throughout North America and Europe for more than a decade, including two performances at The White House Easter Egg Roll. His philosophy is that children are the stars of his shows, not him, and that music becomes more accessible and fruitful as a teaching tool when kids and adults participate together. Cosgrove's young fans affectionately nick-named him "Mr. Stinky Feet," following the success of his 1999 CD release Stinky Feet. His approachable style and ability to immediately connect with children has made him a cool favorite on the concert tour circuit, especially with parents, many of whom have dubbed him the "Jimmy Buffett for kids."
In his character education program, "Respect the Rhythm", Cosgrove teaches students about honoring and expressing personal rhythm in everyday activities such as, sports, homework, and music. He emphasizes the importance of respecting yourself, others, and the Earth. Cosgrove delivers motivating messages about self-esteem and healthy choices. During the program, dozens of students are selected from the audience to perform on stage in several impromptu "jam" sessions. Students have loads of fun and laughter while learning how to demonstrate self expression and positive audience participation skills. Teachers always appreciate how Cosgrove reinforces traits such as perseverance, caring, self-discipline, courage, and respect.
