Louisville’s Commission on Public Art (COPA) has partnered with the International Network for the Conservation of Contemporary Art - North America (INCCA-NA) and the Speed Art Museum present a two-day symposium, called “The Power of Public Space” from September 14-15. This program invites conservators, artists, and the public to consider the importance of, and provide solutions, to conserve and maintain public art. Symposium is free and open to the public.
The Importance of the Artist's Voice
Panelists include: Charles Venable Director and CEO, Speed Art, Stephen Klein, President of The Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts, Marlene Grissom, Director of Special Projects, Waterfront Development Corporation, Richard McCoy, Conservator of Objects & Variable Art, Indianapolis Museum of Art, Kendra Roth, Metropolitan Museum Conservator, Joan Pachner, Educator at Museum of Modern Art. Program will be moderated by Jay Krueger, Senior Conservator of Modern Paintings, National Gallery of Art. A tour of the exhibition Inside |Out. will follow the symposium.
