First year race in Old Louisville to benefit Family Scholar House. Family Scholar House (FSH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty by giving single parents students the support they need to earn a four-year college degree. Our goal is to address and eliminate the barriers that disadvantaged families face in realizing their educational goals. FSH promotes post-secondary education and career-track employment through a full continuum of care that includes supportive housing, academic advising, counseling, peer support, family programs, and support for childcare, transportation and basic needs. Success stories abound! In 2011, FSH served 1,804 low-income single parents with 2,719 children and 215 babies on the way. These services were provided on our three campuses and two outreach locations by 9 staff and 883 volunteers. A fourth campus us currently under construction.
