Forks and knives—instead of leather jackets and chains—will be the accessories of choice at an event that celebrates the legacy and birthday of former Louisville resident Edwin Hubble while raising funds for a science program at Bloom Elementary School.
Hubble Rumble in the Hood is a Nov. 20 collaboration between Lilly’s Bistro and the University of Louisville’s Gheens Science Hall and Rauch Planetarium where a percent of all lunch and dinner sales at Lilly’s go toward bringing the Owsley Brown II Portable Planetarium to Bloom Elementary. The date is the 125th anniversary of Edwin Hubble’s birth.
Diners can choose specialty cocktails like the Cosmic Cosmopolitan, the Guiness Black Hole and Hubble’s Bubbles or culinary treats such as Lilly’s Crescent Moon Caramelized Onion Tart and Hanger Steak with Jedi Sauce and Death Star Gnocchi.
Patrons of Lilly’s during the dinner hours can look through telescopes set up on the sidewalk in front of the restaurant. The telescopes and viewing tips are offered by the Louisville Astronomical Society.
