The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host the popular holiday exhibition Holidazzle 2011: The Art of Giving from November 7, 2011 through January 15, 2012. The annual show features a diverse selection of art and craft for sale created by more than 30 local and national artists. Holiday shoppers looking to give unique gifts will find one-of-a-kind hand-crafted items including works in jewelry, ceramics, wood, glass, fiber and more, ranging in price from $40 to $4,500. The opening reception will be held on Friday, December 2 from 5:00pm to 9:00pm in conjunction with the First Friday Trolley Hop.
This year’s Holidazzle will also include a special three-day trunk show by Kea Carpets and Kilims from December 8-10. Kea Carpets and Kilims of Brooklyn, NY will offer original tribal rugs and textiles from around the world. All the pieces are original tribal rugs, most of them from the early 1900’s, but their monochromatic field and odd talismanic designs are more reminiscent of contemporary designed pieces.
