The Filson Historical Society is proud to present Filson Fridays. Meet our staff as they share the results of their research in The Filson Collections. Enjoy this summer programming every Friday at noon. On July 22, Associate Curators of Special Collections Jennie Cole, Sarah-Jane Poindexter, and Robin Wallace will explore the role of women in early domestic environments, war, and education. Continuing on July 29, the topics covered will include women’s role in activism, the arts, and the professional realm.
It is The Filson’s mission to collect, preserve, and tell the significant stories of Kentucky and Ohio Valley history; join us as the women of the Special Collections Department tell the stories of the women preserved through The Filson’s Special Collections. This two-part lecture series will explore various themes of women’s history by detailing specific women represented in The Filson’s collections from the 18th through the 20th centuries. Part I of the lecture will cover the topics of Women in Early Domestic Environments, Women and War, and Women and Education, while Part II will explore Women and Activism, Women and the Arts, and Women in Professions.
This lecture will begin at noon on both days at The Filson Historical Society. There is no cost for this event, though reservations are suggested. You may reserve your seat by visiting www.filsonhistorical.org or by calling The Filson at (502) 635-5083.
