Preservation Louisville announces its latest Hands on History Workshop. Roofs, gutters, downspouts, underground drainage and flashing all play a role in keeping the historic home watertight and in great repair. Join us this November 12 for a hands on view of what to look for in evaluating your home's roof, gutters and downspouts, and in selecting repair methods appropriate to your home.
The cost is $20 for Preservation Louisville members and $30 for the general public. For more information or to register, please contact us at 502-540-5146 or info@preservationlouisville.org.
Hands on History is an educational series designed to give participants a hands-on, in-depth overview of various preservation issues and methods of maintaining and preserving historic buildings. Preservation Louisville is co-sponsoring this workshop series along with the Metro Louisville Historic Landmarks Commission and the Kentucky Heritage Council/State Historic Preservation Office. Programs are presented with support from The Brown-Forman Corporation.
Throughout the series, participants will learn practical techniques for working with original materials and finishes to maintain, restore and preserve historic elements such as plaster, woodwork, gutters, roofing and masonry, and how to incorporate new materials when necessary. Adapting "green" concepts for historic structures, and historically appropriate landscaping will also be explored.
