The Vintage Fire Museum and Safety Education Center announces its fourth-annual Chili Cook-Off on Thursday, Nov. 15, 5:30=8:00 PM at The Grand, 138 E. Market, New Albany.
5:30-6:00 will be Social Time and 6:00-8:00 will be the meal and program. Tickets are $20 for adults ($18 for members) and $10 for children ($9 for members). Tickets (and memberships) may be purchased at The Gallery on Pearl (open Tuesday through Saturday), 222 Pearl St., N.A., at the Vintage Fire Museum (open Saturdays, 10-4), 411 E. Spring St., N.A., or at the door.
The Chili Cook-Off will feature competition among fire stations and other entrants for the best chili. Anyone who wishes to enter the chili competition should call Shelle England, (502) 741-8029. Other food will also be served. A cash bar will be available.
In the program we will honor firefighters, police, and veterans as public servants. Special recognition will be given to our local fire chief and two other firefighters who recently won statewide awards. Live music will be presented by vocalist Pam Bischoff and by a karaoke specialist. The live auction at 6:45 will feature 4-course dinners at the Museum, children's birthday parties, art objects, and several other wonderful items. At 7:15 the primary speaker will describe and show pictures of how firefighters responded to major recent area fires and tragedies.
The firefighting suit worn by Tom Cruise in filming "Mission: Impossible" will be displayed, and the theme, "Museum Mission: XPossible" will be highlighted.
Tables may be purchased for $250; this includes museum passes and being named in the booklet and from the microphone. Booklet ads may also be purchased in black and white or in color. Anyone wishing to purchase a table or an ad or to offer something for the live auction should contact Shelle England.
