Volunteers will form the letters "USA" using 25,000 flags from veterans' graves. When completed, the letters will each be 150' high and all 3 letters together will be 450' wide. These 25,000 flags honor all of America's fallen heroes, from every state in the Union, including military, law enforcement, and fire fighters. This event will culminate with a Memorial Day observance presided over by Mayor Greg Fischer and will follow in conjunction with the Mayor's Healthy Hometown Memorial Day Hike and Bike. The public is invited to assist with placing the flags beginnning on Saturday, May 26 and continuing through the weekend until all 25,000 flags have been placed. A Memorial Day ceremony will take place on Saturday, May 26 at noon.
