The public will now be able to see the future of manufacturing in action at FirstBuild, GE Appliances’ new Microfactory. Unlike traditional manufacturing sites, the public can drop in to see products being developed, shop at the retail store or just chat with FirstBuild community members. FirstBuild is open between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m. Monday through Friday, and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting Aug. 6, 2014. FirstBuild, a new model of production in the home appliances industry, is made possible by a partnership between GE Appliances, Local Motors and the University of Louisville.
Open to the general public weekdays 9 a.m.–9 p.m., and Saturdays 9 a.m. –5 p.m., beginning August 6, 2014.
