Sat. March 31, 2012 at 6 p.m.
Calling all foodies! Corydon State Historic Site will be hosting an event on Saturday, March 31 at 6 p.m. that is sure to whet your appetite. “Feasting on History: Freaky Foods of Our Forefathers” will be held in the Wright Interpretive Center in downtown Corydon, and full of history's most peculiar food and drinks that guests will be able to try. All food is guaranteed to be edible, but the names and ingredients may surprise you!
Have you ever tried to farce a cabbage? Can you name the ingredients of salmagundy? How do you pickle watermelon? These are just some of the foods, pulled from actual period recipes, that participants will get to sample and learn about in a historic dinner setting. Between courses, topics about food and meal times in early America will be discussed. Diners will be left to decide if they could have subsisted on the strange and down-right weird foods of history. Tickets are available for $20/adults and $10/children under 10 and can be purchased by calling Corydon Capitol State Historic Site at 812.738.4890. Seating is limited and reservations are required.
