Join Prospect, Ky., horse enthusiast Beth Condren and Courier-Journal writer Jennie Rees on Sunday, Jan. 29, from 2 p.m.-6 p.m. in Churchill Downs’ sixth-floor media center. This is the first event for 2012 of F.A.T.E. (Females Are Thoroughbred Enthusiasts), the networking initiative we created to demystify horse racing for women in fun, social settings.
Females of all ages and levels of horse racing knowledge are welcome. We’ll talk about how to read the program, present some betting strategies and answer any questions you might have about horse racing in general. Our expert guests will handicap Gulfstream Park’s Holy Bull Stakes, a major Derby prep race that afternoon that is expected to include Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Hansen, and discuss possible Derby contenders from across the country.
There is no additional charge beyond Churchill’s simulcasting general admission cost ($3). Concessions, including alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase.
For more information and to RSVP, email us at fatefans2012@yahoo.com. Please include name(s), number of attendees and any questions you might have so we can be sure to answer them at the event. We’ll send you more information when you RSVP.
