Eve Theatre Company presents Always a Bridesmaid, a rollicking tale by the popular comedic writing team Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten, three of the most produced playwrights in America. The comedy opens Thursday, May 22 and runs through Sunday, June 1 at The Bard’s Town Theatre.
Always A Bridesmaid is a laugh-out-loud journey of four loyal and determined women who definitively answer the question, "Just how far are you willing to go to keep a promise to a friend?" High school pals Libby Ruth, a hopeful romantic; headstrong judge Deedra; saucy and self-involved Monette; and tree-hugging, marriage-adverse Charlie have sworn to be in each other’s weddings, no matter the circumstances (including some of the world’s ugliest bridesmaid dresses). Joining these beleaguered bridesmaids on the marriage-go-round are Libby Ruth’s newly-married daughter Kari, and Sedalia, the snobby proprietress of the wedding venue at which the antics unfold.
Under the direction of Kate Scinta and stage managed by Olivia Plath, Eve Theatre Company’s production features Michelle Chalmers, Alice Chiles, Charlotte Hammett Hubrich, Cindy Smith, Julie Streble and Diane Stretz-Thurmond, and costume design by Andrea Ahl. Always a Bridesmaid will be performed May 22, 23, 24, 29, 30 and 31 at 7:30 p.m. and May 25 and June 1 at 3:00 p.m.
