Dr. Crowe, Cavanaugh Professor Emeritus in Humanities in the Program of Liberal Studies and Graduate Program in History and Philosophy of Science at the University of Notre Dame, is recipient of the 2010 LeRoy E. Doggett Prize awarded by the AAS for significant influence on the field of the history of astronomy by a career-long effort, and author of the 2008 book The Extraterrestrial Life Debate: Antiquity to 1915.
