Jim Helton (Kentucky State Director for American Atheists and Organizer of the Tri-State Freethinkers) will discuss how the Tri-State Freethinkers distributed Freethought Literature in Boone County, Kentucky. The Gideons were approved by the school district to distribute bibles in Boone County Schools. The Tri-State Freethinkers also requested permission to distribute Freethought books, with help from the ACLU. Booth the Tri-State Freethinkers (with members of a local Secular Student Alliance) and the Gideons were permitted to show up, but only the Freethinkers showed up. This was a surprise to some, but not to Helton due to his knowledge of Gideon bylaws. Helton will speak about getting permission to distribute literature and why the Gideons did not show up.
