Elaine Pagels is the author of Revelations: Visions, Prophecy & Politics in the Book of Revelation. Considered one of the world's foremost religion scholars, she is the Harrington Spear Paine Professor of Religion at Princeton University and the author of The Gnostic Gospels—winner of the National Book Critics Circle Award and the National Book Award- as well as Reading Judas and Beyond Belief. In a time when global violence surges, Revelations explores and illuminates the roots of dissent, violence and division in the world's religions.
She will be interviewed by Gustav Niebuhr, Associate Professor in Religion & the Media at Syracuse University and former New York Times Religion Correspondent. Gustav Niebuhr comes from a family of prominent theologians: great-uncle Reinhold Niebuhr taught at New York's Union Theological Seminary, grandfather H. Richard Niebuhr taught at Yale Divinity School, father Richard Niebuhr at Harvard Divinity School.
