Midwives and muffins? Potatoes and prenatal information? Doulapalooza Celebrates Its 10th Anniversary at the Douglass Loop Farmer's Market
*This event was rained out on 10/19 so this is the weekend to experience this event
This year's Doulapalooza music performances take the main stage on the recently-dedicated Woodbourne House at the Douglass Loop Farmer's Market on Sat. Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.. Exhibits for the Kentuckiana birth community, including doulas (labor coaches), midwives, childbirth educators, massage therapists, doctors, lactation consultants, chiropractors, and area hospital labor/delivery staff, will be alongside the landscaped sidewalk which is the west border of the market property.
The market is located on the grounds of Douglass Blvd. Christian Church 2005 Douglass Blvd @ Bardstown Rd. in the Highlands.. Plenty of free parking is available.
This event is to promote positive, informed childbirth and is presented by Birth Care Network, a Louisville non-profit organization since 2001. Live music, arts and crafts, kids activities, door prizes, and desserts will all be provided alongside the regular Saturday market offerings. Bring a blanket and your appetite! For women in their childbearing years and couples expecting a baby, this event is an excellent opportunity to meet pregnancy, birth, and postpartum professionals one-on-one in a lively, casual environment.
With the Kentucky Proud bounty of the farmer's market only steps away, families will want to shop for the household and enjoy fresh breakfast and lunch fare.
Performing artists are John Gage, Leigh Ann Yost, The Cool Hand Ukes, Terpsichore Dance Co. Kri & Hettie, and Tom Boone.
It is a free event and all are welcome.
