Vanessa and Carl have decided to throw a party. It’s Saturday, May 4th, 1974 and it’s Derby day in Louisville, Kentucky. The thing is; the party they had in mind is not your ordinary, run of the mill Derby party. It’s been only one month since the devastating tornadoes of April 3rd, which claimed the homes of people they know and they want to do something special for their friends who have lost so much. They want to give their friends a night to divert their worries and celebrate their fantasies. They want to give their friends, and themselves, a party they won’t soon forget. Vanessa and Carl have decided to throw a key party.

(a key party is a party in which only couples are invited and upon arrival one member of the couple drops their set of keys into a bowl, when the party is over and it’s time to leave, the other member of the couple draws out a set of keys and whoever’s keys they have; that’s who they go home with.
